Cynthia Belbin (Paddler)
Cynthia Belbin was Megan’s training partner before the Olympics and recruit from Calgary, Alberta Canada. Cynthia holds similar stature on the Canadian Kayak scene being a member of the Canadian National Development Team in 1990-1992. Cynthia qualified for the World Marathon Championships in 1991 and 1992. Cynthia is currently working for an energy marketing company, Dynegy Canada Inc., as a Database Administrator. |
Megan Duffy (Paddler)
Megan Duffiy is a kayaker of great renown in the US paddling world. A former member of the US National Kayak team, Megan has paddled at the Pan American Championships in 1991 winning a bronze medallist! She has participated in 3 World Championships and European tours, she also qualified for the World Marathon Championships in 1992. Megan is currently working for the Long Beach Fire Department as a fire person and a paramedic. Tony Mate (Captain, road crew) Tony will be on the support crew for the first half of the race. Tony is looking forward to touring the golf courses while we are paddling. Tony is Cynthia Belbin's husband. Sean Duffy (road crew) Sean was also a former member of the US Kayaking team as well as an accomplished rower, winning the famous Henley trophy. Sean is a professor at a small University in Massachetts. Sean is Megan Duffy's brother! Shelia Duffy (road crew) Shelia is an artist and a retired school teacher who will be the backbone to keeping our spirits up and getting us through the race having as much fun as possible.
