Beyond the Finish
Questions? Comments? See a mistake on the site? Did we miss something? Do you have any pictures or videos we are missing that you would like to add to the site? Please contact us.
This site is provided and paid for by Mary Potter and Clark Eid, mom and dad to Amanda Eid, who has Rett Syndrome. Even though the 2001 Race and 2003 Challenge are over, we continue to go "Beyond the Finish" to raise awareness of two very different, rare, orphan diseases - Rett Syndrome and Leukodystrophy.
Special thanks to every single person who helped us during the events, who looked at our site, or who spent even a few minutes learning something new about these disorders that affect so many families. Thanks to all the team members who contributed text, pictures and videos. Special thanks to Bob Bradford who kept logs of both events and allowed us to share his logs on this site.
Reproduction of any part of this site is welcomed as long as you are increasing awareness of these events, Rett Syndrome, Leukodystrophy, or increasing awareness of issues relating to the Mississippi River generally. You can use information on this site as long as you are promoting this site and/or it's contents as a public service and free of charge, and you are respectful to everyone involved in these events. Please reference our site when using any text/pictures from these events.
If you need more pictures, videos, or stories than you see on the site for an article you are writing, please contact us and we'll be happy to help you.
If you have pictures or videos or stories from the race, or have a log of any team/time during the race, we would like to include them as well so please send them to us. Digital information wasn't as accessible during these events as it is today, and we know we are missing lots of pictures and videos.... we welcome them all if you would like to send them to us. Our original sites also had very limited space and were full to capacity - this newer site allows unlimited data and we would like to add as much new information as we can. Videos and logs and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

- Through this official website
- Through public media
- Through Phil Peterson's book about Verlen Kruger, "All Things are Possible" (two chapters are dedicated to the 2001 and 2003 races)
- By affiliating World & Guinness records these two rare diseases
- By affiliating a rare disease to a well known American icon - the Mississippi River.
- And the public display of The 2001 Double Helix Flagship at the Tunica River Museum in Tennessee to help all of those who affected by these different diseases.
- There is no other site or format of information that officially represents these events.
